Dear Fox Families,

This is Ms. Lyon calling with very important end of year information. Volunteers for Foxapalooza, we are canceling our event for next Monday.  The weather shows 5050 chance of rain so we are making an early plan B.  Students will be indoors for a movie day or other activity planned by their grade level, so we do not need our volunteers, but thank you for signing up.

Second, tomorrow is a quick PTA meeting after school with an invitation to your child to join us for a STAY and PLAY on the playground.  If you can, please come hear some exciting new information about PTA for next year.  We have committee positions available and would love to have you join our community of foxes.

Lastly, we have 15 yearbooks left.  You may come to the office to purchase one for $20 cash only.  Yearbooks will be distributed next Tuesday.

If you can help, please call the school or reply to the email that I just sent out.

March 20, 2019

Hello Fox Families,

This is Ms. Lyon with three announcements

First, congrats to Mrs. Johnson’s class for winning the Falcon Ridge March Madness Challenge for Attendance. They will move on to compete against DW Long in the next level of the competition. We encourage your child to be here every day as long as they are feeling well.  Our attendance goal is to have 96.5% in seat daily and we are falling a little short of this goal every month.  Thanks for all you can do to help us reach our goal.

Next, Tomorrow night, Thursday, is our Open House.  The festivities begin at 4:30 with our TK performance.  The rest of the night begins at 5:00 with dinner on the playground provided by hot dog on a stick for purchase at the event.  If the weather cooperates, we have a fitness activity planned as well as a performance by our band.  Classrooms open at 5:00 for TK and 6:00 for all other classrooms.

Lastly, Friday is minimum day with 1:15 dismissal. Have a great Spring Break and we will see you back on April 1.

March 7, 2019

Hello Families,

This is Ms. Lyon with two announcements.  First, our new spirit wear hoodie was delivered to your child today if you placed an order.  The hoodies were so well received that we have decided to open orders again for a short time if you missed out on ordering one the first time.  An email just went out with an order form attached if you would like one for you or your student.  The order forms are due back by Tuesday, March 12 by 4:00.  Check your email for the form or pick one up from the front office.

Secondly, we are kicking off our attendance March Madness challenge on Monday.  I would like to see our attendance improve a bit and this seems a great way to make it a priority for our school.  We will be matching classes against each other to see who the winning class for the school will be.  That winning class will earn a pizza party and then compete against Long, East Heritage and West Heritage for the championship attendance title.  Have your student wear green to school on Monday for the kick off and try your best to get them here every day (as long as they are not sick) so we can be the best attended school out of the four schools participating.  Thank you for your support!  Have a great night.

February 14, 2019

Hello Parents,

This is Ms. Lyon – because of the wind that has joined our rain, we will be dismissing from inside the MPR today.  If you park, you can walk into the MPR to find your student and take them from there.  If you plan to drive through to pick up your student, it would be so helpful to us if you can write their names and grades really big on a piece of paper and place it in your front car window so we can call them out when we see your car. Thank you for your patience in this process, rainy day dismissal is never exactly fun.  But Happy Valentine’s Day and enjoy your 4 day weekend and we will see you on Tuesday.

January 31, 2019

Hello parents,

This is Ms. Lyon with 3 reminders:

First, remember we will be having a brief session tomorrow morning at 8:30 in the MPR called donuts with the principal.  Yes, there will be donuts, some information about being a title 1 school and of course me. Following the title one presentation PTA will hold a brief meeting.  This will also be a great time for you to voice your interest to be a part of our PTA next year in a board position or as a committee chair.

Next, I would like to invite you to attend a family engagement night at West Heritage next Tuesday night.  The topic is internet safety.  Free dinner will be served and childcare provided.  We are limited to 10 family spots, but we still have a couple available.  If you would like to attend, please call the school and we will reserve you a spot as long as we still have an opening, first call, first serve.

And last, next Thursday, February 8, we will have another donut opportunity at 7:30 AM to thank our dads for being Watch D.O.G.S. and to invite any new dads to come and find out more about the program.  New Watch D.O.G.S. sign up slots will be available after February 8 on our website at FR.Etiwanda.org, including new half-day volunteer opportunities.

Hi Parents,

Thank you for a great first two weeks of school.  We have been very busy learning at Falcon Ridge.

This is Ms. Lyon, principal, with 4 short announcements:

  1. This Wednesday, 8/22, is picture day.We will do pictures before we head to PE and our PE coach will plan according to our students wearing picture day clothes.
  2. On Monday, 8/27, students in 1-5th will be able to get Snowie Ice at lunch. Please send in your order form by Friday and we will give kids a ticket to take to lunch on Monday to get their treat.
  3. We extended the PTA early bird join campaign through this Thursday. If you join by August 23, your student will earn a Popsicle. We would love to have 100% of our parents join PTA.Even if you cannot volunteer, we will still happily put your money to good work for our students.
  4. Last but not least, traffic.Drop off and Pick Up are coming along. The lot is pretty much clear within 15 minutes of dismissal, which is not bad considering we have almost 600 students this year. Please do not make u-turns in the middle of the streets around Falcon Ridge, it is not safe for our students and parents. Also, we encourage you to drive through to pick up your students now.Parking illegally to come and pick up your student really slows down the flow of traffic. Thank you.

Hello Fox Families,
This is Ms. Lyon, principal at Falcon Ridge.  It was great to have all of your students back at school today and good to see so many of you at drop off and pick up.  It was a busy day for all of us and we were on inclement weather because of the heat, but we all hung in there and had a great day of seeing old friends and making new ones.  Speaking of drop off and pick up… Well, we have a little work to do on this, but thanks for being patient with us.  Tomorrow we will have students start with 5th grade first in the pickup area and 1st grade on the far end, basically switching the order of how the lines were today.  Also, will you tell your children, they are free to find their sibling and ride shares and wait together, our idea of grade specific wasn’t such a good plan after all.  Additionally, anyone with an afternoon TK or Kinder students who also has another 1-5th grade student, will you remind your older child to wait outside of L2 and you may pick them both up between the L and J buildings.  Additionally, we would like the cars to pull as far up as you can before getting your student.  This means if you’re the lead car, pull all the way past the MPR and we will have your student walk forward to meet you.  This message is displayed on our webpage at FR.etiwanda.org under auto dialer messages if you would like to read it again.

Hello Falcon Ridge Family,

This is Ms. Lyon. Everyone has been getting ready for school to start on Monday and excitement is in the air.  Classes are available for you to look up now at Etiwanda.org/classes. Not the parent portal, but go to the website, Etiwanda.org/classes.  We hope you will join us for back to school night tomorrow at 5:15 to meet your teacher.  Hotdogs will be available for you to purchase for dinner as well as kettle corn and shaved ice treats. We have a PTA meet and greet at 5:30 and classrooms open at 6:00.  Most teachers will be using a new app called school messenger this year to help build our communication with families.  If you have a chance, download the school messenger app in your app store so you can be ready to join their class tomorrow night with a special code they will share with you.  We can’t wait to see everyone!!

May 23, 2018

Hello Foxes!

This is Ms. Lyon.  As the close of our year of firsts comes to an end, I want to express my gratitude for all of our families, students and staff.   2017-2018 will certainly be a year that we will all remember as we opened and launched our new school.  Students have shown tremendous growth both academically and social/emotionally. I couldn’t be more please as the principal of this great school.  You have put us on the map in the Etiwanda School District with great respect and admiration for the school we have become.

Tomorrow, Thursday, May 24 is our last day of school and we have so many fun activities for your students they won’t want to miss it.  We do have a minimum day with 1:15 dismissal tomorrow.

We look forward to seeing you back in August.  We plan to do our Open House the Friday before school starts again, so save the date for Friday, August 3.  School begins on Monday August 6th.  You will receive summer communication from Falcon Ridge to keep you in the loop.  Keep skills current by reading a lot and doing some math fact contests with your child.  Have a terrific summer!

May 21, 2018

Hello 5th grade parents,
It’s that time – only a few special events at Falcon Ridge until your student leave us for middle school.  We have two big events left this week.

First: Our 5th grade promotion on Wednesday, May 23 at 9:00.  The doors to the MPR will open at 8:45 for seating and we will begin at 9:00 with our ceremony.  If you would like a younger sibling who is at Falcon ridge to meet you in the MPR for promotion, please fill out the permission slip that was sent home with promotion information, or simply write a note asking for your child to join you in the MPR at 8:45.  We will send them over to find you.  If you are writing a note, please include in the note if you are checking them out with your 5th grader to enjoy the special day or if they will be returning to class.  Send this in with your student tomorrow so we can have all passes ready for Wednesday Morning.
Attire for the promotion for our students is business casual, nice pants and shirts or appropriate dresses.  We discourage heels because students will be walking on the slippery MPR floor and up the stairs for recognition.
Then, Thursday is 5th grade kickball and BBQ.  The Fontana Police department is playing kickball with us and then they are barbequing for the students.  They even donated the burgers and hot dogs.  We thank them so much for doing this and being a positive influence on campus.  Your students will get VERY wet during the activities after the kickball tournament and there is hair dye involved, so you probably want to send them in clothes you don’t care if they don’t come clean.  I’m pretty sure hair dye and water don’t clean up all that well.  Remember Thursday is the last day of school and it is minimum day with a 1:15 dismissal.  Congrats on a successful 5th grade year!  See you soon.

Also – Mother Son Game night is coming up on Friday, April 20 from 5:30-7:00.  Look for a flyer that is coming home this week.  We hope to see you out there. PTA has planned a ton of fun events for mothers and their sons.

Hello Fox Families,

Welcome back from Spring Break.  It was good to see so many smiling faces this morning.  Tomorrow night from 6-7:30 is our first ever STEM night.  We will be exploring Science, Technology, Engineering and Math through hands on activities for kids and their families.  Thank you to all who RSVPd already.  Our night will begin in the MPR and we will have breakout sessions from there.  There will be prize drawings at the end of the night for participants to get some fun items.  If you would still like to attend, call the school office tomorrow before 2:00 and we can still hold a space for you.  The number is 463-6111.  Hope to see you there.

March 21, 2018
Hello Fox Families,

Tomorrow night is our Open House.  It will go on rain or shine.  Probably rain.  We have made a few minor adjustments for the night.  We cancelled the band and the snowy ice truck.  Additionally, we will not open the MPR for serving until 5:10 to give our TK performance a few extra minutes to clear out after their show at 4:45.  So, dinner will start at 5:10 in the MPR for those who pre-purchased Zendejas.  If you didn’t pre-buy a dinner, we will have a food truck to serve you several options, cash only.  The food truck will have kettle corn for you to purchase as well, so don’t miss out on that delishiness.  Classrooms will open at 6:00.  Our events that were to be on the courts will now all be located in the library, so be sure to stop by to see our reflections slide show, buy a carnation for a friend, teacher or special person in your life to give them tomorrow, and purchase a yearbook.  Visit our book fair adjacent to the library.  Lost and found will be outside the library so stop by and take a look before we donate it to charity over spring break.  We will be collecting used or new blankets for the animal shelter outside of B4.  A flyer was sent home today with this information as well as a map of the school so you can find all the places you will need.  Also, remember this Friday is minimum day before our week of spring break.  Dismissal is at 1:15 and our office closes at 2. If you missed any part of this, you can always find our auto dialer messages on our webpage at FR.etiwanda.org

March 14, 2018
Hello Falcon Ridge Parents,

We are so excited to have you come see how we’ve grown this year.  As spring approaches our students have bloomed into excellent learners.  Come join us for Open House next Thursday, March 22.  Festivities start at 4:45 with a performance by our TK students.  Our courts will open at 5:00 with food and fun.  If you would like to join us for dinner, please turn your dinner order form into the office by the end of the day tomorrow, March 15. Order forms were sent home with your students.   Zendejas will serve up tacos and you will also get a gift card worth $10 to use at another time.  So that really makes dinner free.  In addition we will have shaved ice and kettle corn for sale.  Don’t miss our gratitude garden where you can buy a flower for a teacher, friend, child, staff member or parent to show them how grateful you are for them.  Yearbooks will also be available to purchase and be sure to drop off a used blanket for our local animal shelters.  Classrooms will then be open from 6-7. Our book fair will also be going on this whole time along with Reflections art gallery in the MPR.  And lastly – have you been wondering where all your kid’s jackets went? Well visit our lost and found racks to pick them up before we donate the leftovers to charity during spring break.  See you next Thursday.

March 12, 2018

Hello Parents and Guardians.  This is Alicia Lyon calling from Falcon Ridge with an important message.
The recent school tragedy in Parkland, Florida has stimulated conversations, both locally and nationally, and is having far-reaching impacts at our schools and in our community.  As you may have heard, March 14th has been identified as a national movement day promoting students to walk out of schools in support of Parkland, Florida and in an effort to raise awareness regarding school safety concerns.  As the Principal of your child’s school, I want to ensure that our students have opportunities to engage in thoughtful and responsible activities while maintaining a secure and orderly learning environment.

As such, on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, our teachers have planned age-appropriate activities and discussions focusing on maintaining a caring school community, the importance of talking to an adult when students see or hear something that worries them, and school safety procedures.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we work together in creating a safe school environment for the students at Falcon Ridge.

Also, an email was sent to you earlier today with several important dates of events and activities.  Check it out to see how you can help and be involved in the near future.

Hello Families,

This is Lauren Andrews, 2nd VP working with fundraising.  I am calling to encourage you to participate in our Great American Fundraiser.  You can participate online by setting up a profile or sell items to help raise money for Falcon Ridge.  Packets and order forms were sent home with your student last week which include all of the merchandise that you can buy or sell to family and friends to help support our school.  Student participation incentives are described on the parent information sheet, including bonus prizes of a glow dance party and a limo lunch.  Order forms are due by Thursday, Feb. 1, but Wednesday the 31 is the last day to turn in tickets for the adorable fox lanyards.  Every item sold helps – thanks for participating and helping to raise money for important programs at our school.

January 25, 2018

Hello Falcon Ridge Families,

This is Ms. Lyon with 3 items to share with you.

First, remember that this Monday, January 29 is a non-student day.  There is no school and our office will be closed.

Second, a flyer was sent home to let you know that we have security cameras on our campus.  The letter gives much more detail about the cameras and the intent of their use.  But to summarize, our priority is to ensure a safe campus for our students and employees.  We believe the cameras will assist us with campus security in many aspects.  If you have any questions, please call the school and we will be happy to talk with you.

And lastly, On February 6 from 6-7 we will be having our Watch D.O.G.S. kick-off pizza dinner.  So dads, uncles, grandpas, stepdads and any other male role models, bring your kids and come on out to learn more about our program and how you can be a part of our school culture while making a positive impact on our school and our students.  Please send back the RSVP form by Friday, February 2 so we can get a good count to order pizza.  It’s free pizza, so we hope you will join us.

January 17, 2018

December 6, 2017

Hello Kinder and TK parents  -

Unfortunately, due to expected high winds continuing into tomorrow, we have made the decision to postpone the Amy’s Farms field trip that was originally scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, December 8th.  So for tomorrow, TK and Kinder classes will all report at their regularly scheduled time, AM Kinder 8:00-11:20 and PM Kinder and TK 11:25-2:45.The good news is that we were able to reschedule our trip to Amy’s Farms for next Thursday, December 14.  All Kinder and TK need to report to school on the 14th at 8:00 and be picked up at 12:15 on the day of the trip.  We will use your permission slip that you filled out for tomorrow for the day of the trip which is now December 14th.  If you need to make any updates or changes to this current permission slip or if you do not want your child to attend on the 14th, please see your teacher to let them know.

Make it a great night, and thank you for understanding our need to reschedule for everyone’s comfort and safety.

December 1, 2017

Hello Families,

This is Ms. Lyon sharing two fun opportunities for your students.

1st, we will begin our walking program for 1-5th grade on Monday, December 4th.  Students are invited to walk or run the field in the morning between 7:45 and 8:10 and gather a stick for each lap they complete.  We will offer different incentives throughout the year to get our kids active in the mornings.  For the month of December, the top 20 lap finishers at each grade level will receive an Everyone Enjoys Exercise medal.  Students may walk, jog to participate in this healthy program.

2nd – on Friday, December 8th we will be doing a Movie Day after school.  Watch for a green permission slip that explains the event.  There is an option to purchase an after school pizza snack for your student to enjoy with the movie if you choose.  They may attend the movie whether they purchase food or not.  There is an error on the flyer – so sorry about that.  The time is from 2:45-4:30.  The permission part of the slip says to pick up at 4:00 but this was incorrect.  The correct pick up time is 4:30 by the MPR.  Student must return permission slips by Wednesday to receive pizza.

Hello Parents,

This is Ms. Lyon, principal at Falcon Ridge.  This morning at 8:25 we went into a brief lockdown situation as a precautionary measure in order to seek information about a potentially threatening situation near our school.  It was reported to the school by a parent that there was a shooting on the freeway not too far from our school.  To be cautious, administration put the school in lockdown mode while we investigated the report.  Our district advised us that we did not need to be in lockdown mode as the situation was under control at the time and was not a threat to our school.  We released students and teachers to continue on with their day in our usual manner where all doors remain locked for our ongoing safety but students were free to move about campus.

If we are ever on an official lockdown, an auto dialer would immediately be sent out giving parents more information and steps to take to be sure that our students are safe and secure to the best of our ability.
